Our lab investigates the neural mechanisms underlying human learning & memory.
First, we consider recent advances in deep learning models as a tool to understand human motor control and learning systems. Second, our lab is intrigued by the emerging role of the hippocampus in motor learning via experience replay. We seek to bridge declarative memory, and procedural memory, which has historically been considered different memory systems. We seek to bridge declarative memory, and procedural memory, which has historically been considered different memory systems. Third, we use noninvasive brain stimulation technologies like TMS and tES to better understand causal mechanisms of learning and memory. We are currently working with AI developers at EPFL in Switzerland to understand if deep learning models can explain human brain functions. Additionally, we are partnering with clinicians at Samsung Medical Center to assess the applicability of TMS in treating patients with mild cognitive impa
